Astra Vagoane and Atelierele CFR Griviţa are threatening CFR Călători with insolvency if they don't receive the money they are owed
CFR Călători is one step away from bankruptcy. Astra Vagoane and
Atelierele CFR Griviţa have threatened the management of CFR
Călători that if they don't receive the more than 80 million
Romanian Lei (close to 20 million Euro) they are owed, they will
ask the courts to declare the state owed company insolvent.
The notifications sent by the two companies to CFR Călători date
back to June 9th, and the deadline for paying the debts is of 10
calendar days, namely until the end of next week.
"Taking note of the fact that the debts above have been owed by
your company to our company for more than 30 days (save for the one
for the RON 26,299 contract) as of when our receivable became
uncontested, liquid and enforceable, we consider that the
requirements of art. 3 of Law no. 85/2006 have been met, in that
your company is insolvent", state the officials of Astra Vagoane, a
company owned by businessman Valer Blidar, in the notification sent
to CFR Călători. The Blidar family places 67 in Forbes Romania's
billionaires, with an estate estimated at 90-95 million Euro. Valer
Blidar bought Astra Vagoane in 2000.
